How to Beautifully Wrap Christmas Presents

By Trent Rodriquez

Christmas is a lovely holiday where you get to exchange gifts with friends and family. Half of the fun of receiving Christmas presents is unwrapping the beautiful paper to see what lies inside. Your loved ones will really appreciate the extra time and effort that you put into wrapping their presents. This article provides some top tips that will help you to create prettily wrapped Christmas presents.

The Paper
The paper is what people will first notice when they receive the gift, therefore it is important that you choose something which is attractive. You can choose different paper for different people depending on their own tastes. There is a huge range of wrapping paper available to purchase. If you are feeling creative you can even use stamps to create your own unique paper.

Wrapping the Gift
How you wrap the gift should depend on the shape and size of the gift that you are giving. Always neatly fold all of the edges of the wrapping paper, and then fold the very ends into a triangular shape and stick it down with some cellotape. Circular shaped gifts can be wrapped with paper, and then you can twist the ends much like a sweet wrapper for a neat finish.

If you are giving a number of small gifts to one person then you may want to place them into a hamper or a basket. You can fill the hamper with crepe paper, or shredded newspaper, and then tie a ribbon around it to finish it off.

Ribbon
No gift is complete without wrapping a beautiful piece of ribbon around it. Try and pick a colour of ribbon that complements the style of the wrapping paper that you are using. You can score the edges of the ribbon with scissors to create curled ends, and you can also stick a bow ribbon onto the wrapping paper to finish the look. You can purchase premade ribbons which have sticky back plastic attached onto bottom of them so that you can easily attach them onto the gift, or you can even make them yourself. Again, you should pick a style of bow that complements the wrapping paper.

Lace can be used instead of ribbon for some types of gifts. You can also decorate your wrapped gifts with embellishments. Embellishments can be purchased from large craft stores, or from some online retailers.

The Card
You can attach a small gift card onto the present. This will allow you to leave a personal message to the person that you are giving it to. It will also help you to identify what present is meant for each person.

Unusual Ideas
There are also several other ways you can wrap presents. A lovely idea is to use newspaper sheets that were printed on the day and year that the person that you are giving it to was born on. You can also use gift bags to place the presents in so that you don't have to wrap them at all. Happy Christmas!
